Supporting Tanzania's Informal Sector and Cooperatives
Alpha Associates Tanzania Limited plays a pivotal role in transforming Tanzania’s informal and cooperative sectors by delivering
high-impact advisory, compliance, and strategic services. We work closely with local associations and grassroots institutions to formalize operations, build capacity, and promote sustainable practices
across the economy.
Support to Umoja wa Mama Lishe Tanzania (UMALITA)
We are enabling thousands of women food vendors to transition from traditional cooking fuels to gas
and electric cookers. Our role includes training in clean energy adoption, formalizing micro-enterprises, and connecting beneficiaries to carbon credit schemes that generate additional income.
Support to Chama cha Madereva na Wamiliki Pikipiki Tanzania (CHAMWAPITA)
Alpha Associates is guiding CHAMWAPITA members in the shift toward e-mobility, supporting the adoption of
electric bikes (e-bikes) and ensuring proper business registration, compliance, and access to carbon financing channels. This initiative not only supports climate action but also enhances livelihoods
in the urban transport sector.
Empowering Cooperative Societies Across Tanzania Mainland
Alpha Associates Tanzania Limited is officially authorized by the Tanzania Cooperative
Development Commission (TCDC) as a recognized service provider to cooperative societies operating in Tanzania Mainland. Through this mandate, we offer:
Business advisory and governance training
for cooperative leadership and members.
Tax compliance and financial reporting services tailored to cooperative structures.
Support in registration, restructuring, and strategic planning
for SACCOs, AMCOS, transportation, fisheries, and artisanal cooperatives.
Guidance in adopting sustainable practices and participating in green finance and carbon market opportunities.
Our support to cooperative societies strengthens their economic viability, governance, and long-term sustainability, helping them become key engines of inclusive development.

To
deepen our impact in the informal sector, Alpha Associates Tanzania Limited has established a strategic collaboration with Mafanikio Financial Services Limited, a licensed microfinance institution. Together,
we deliver integrated solutions to informal entrepreneurs.

Trains UMALITA and CHAMWAPITA members in business skills, clean energy
transition, and carbon trading.
Formalizes enterprises and connects them to value chains and government support programs.
Mafanikio Financial Services Limited
Offers affordable asset
loans for gas/electric cookers and e-bikes.
Enables informal businesses to acquire tools that improve productivity and sustainability.
Provides financial literacy and repayment support
to maintain asset performance.

where they are most needed. Meanwhile, Mafanikio focuses on financial empowerment through asset financing, ensuring that the tools required to run clean and efficient businesses are within reach for

FUTURE PLANNED PROJECTS
Alpha Carbon Trade Platform
Alpha Associates is developing a dedicated carbon trading platform to monetize
emissions reductions from clean energy and e-mobility projects. Through this initiative:
Carbon credits from UMALITA and CHAMWAPITA’s transitions will be certified and marketed.
Revenue
generated will be reinvested into community enterprises.
New income channels will be created for informal sector members participating in climate-positive activities.
